Legedadi Phase II Water Supply project officially inaugurated

Addis Ababa City Administration higher officials, including Water and Energy Minister Ambassador Assfaw Dingamo, highly respected elders, stake holder representatives, major media organizations and invited guests have attended the event.

The project consists of 16 deep wells drilled in different parts of Oromia Special Zone Bureka Wereda and has a production capacity of 86,000 cubic meters per day. This project is the largest groundwater project ever undertaken by the Authority. It will benefit more than 860,000 residents as Eng. Zerihun Abate, General Manager of Addis Ababa Water & Sewerage Authority (AWSSA) stated in his opening speech.

ASER Construction plc also awarded a recognition certificate for the outstanding performance and successful completion of the project.

ASER took over the project and commenced operation in October 2019 and opened a job opportunity for 302 employees. 

ASER Construction, as main contractor constructed

 LC1 Dire Reservoir Site: 2000m3 reinforced concrete reservoir, guard house with shower and toilet, septic tank, soak away pit, fence and gate and site works.

√ LC2 Legedadi Pumping station: the civil work construction includes 5000m3 reservoir, pump house, transformer house or transformer seat, generator house, operators dwelling room, guard house with shower and toilet, septic tank, soak away pit, Fence and Gate and Site Work.

 16 Submersible pumping station: valve room, generator shed, well head, transformer seat, guard house with shower and toilet, septic tank, soak away pit, Fence and Gate and Site Work.

√  Supply and Installation Transmission main and collector pipeline:  havening length of 52.7km collector and 20.3 km transmission pipeline pipe line, crossing structures including 8 pillar bridge, 1 concrete casing and 4 steel bridge, 1 concrete beam crossing structures, trust blocks including for horizontal and vertical bends, and tappers and tee trust blocks and valve chambers for washout and air release valve and gate vale chambers.

 Access road and drainage structures: the civil work includes construction of 28 km access road, and drainage structures of 7 pipe culverts and 2 box culverts.
